The anglerfish: The original approach to deep-sea fishing

Deep-sea anglerfish are strange and elusive creatures that are very rarely observed in their natural habitat. Fewer than half a dozen have ever been captured on film or video by deep diving research vehicles. This little angler, about 9 cm long, is named Melanocetus. It is also known as the Black Seadevil and it lives in the deep dark waters of the Monterey Canyon. MBARI's ROV Doc Ricketts observed this anglerfish for the first time at 600 m on a midwater research expedition in November 2014. We believe that this is the first video footage ever made of this species alive and at depth

On October 9, 2014, my boyfriend,now fiance, surprised me with the best proposal I could have ever dreamed of! I was completely shocked and am beyond blessed and excited!!

Laboratory chimps caged for 30 years are finally released to a sanctuary

Like prisoners emerging from a lifetime behind bars, a group of chimpanzees step blinking into the sunlight. This is the first time they have felt grass under their feet and breathed fresh air for 30 years. A few of the chimps were born in captivity but most were kidnapped from African jungles as babies and flown to Europe, where they were locked in metal laboratory cages to be used in a long series of experiments. Their ordeal finally ended in September 2011 when 38 of the surviving chimps were released into a sanctuary in Austria called Gut Aiderbichl, allowing them to feel the nurturing contact of their fellow chimps after years of being separated by bars and bullet-proof glass. Biloxi, Mississippi I-10 Car Crashes Into Semi, Explosion
**Everyone survived
The time shown on the video is wrong, this happened monday, august 11th 2014
A car t-bones a semi truck on I10 near Biloxi, Mississippi. The car struck the fuel tank of the semi causing a large fire ball. The doors of the car were jammed shut and the driver suffering a broken leg could not exit the vehicle.
Luckily my father had a fire extinguisher on hand to fight back the flames and give enough time to pull the driver and her 1 year old granddaughter out of the flaming vehicle. Once the passengers are free from the vehicle the flames rapidly grow in strength consuming the vehicle.
Thankfully my father had the presence of mind, bravery, and forethought of carrying a fire extinguisher, to be the first person on scene to risk his own life in order to possibly save another and to inspire others and lead them into taking action. Everyone involved in the rescue effort is a hero in my books.
The police and fire department responded within minutes of the accident and also deserve praise.
Remember to treat truck drivers well as they are often the first responders in automobile accidents.
Everyone involved was okay, the driver of the vehicle suffered a broken leg and all others had only minor injuries.
My father said he was surprised he was the first one there while everyone else stayed in their vehicles. It takes a huge amount of bravery to be the first to lend a hand. My guess is most people were hesitant to help because they figured the occupants could not have survived.
When he went to pull the child out of the car the smoke made it very difficult for him to breathe and his only thought was getting the child out of the vehicle.

Jet Ski Crash Bahamas - RAW HD Video

Brian Prahl was celebrating his birthday in Nassau, Bahamas and shooting some random footage, when he noticed something out of the corner of his eye.
According to Brian .....
"This is a wreck that I caught out of the corner of my eye while shooting two girls that were taking photos of each other before going on a jetski ride. As I panned to my left, and saw this other crazy jet ski guy literally jump her jet ski like a ramp"
"She had the craziest instinct to get off of the jetski at the last second to save her head literally. The couple on the other jetski went flying into the sand after flying super high in the air. I was like 'hooolllyyy shhiit' at the ending as I could not imagine what I had captured, and thank god no one was hurt in the end."
While some commentators have suggested the footage may be linked another online prank associated with Jimmy Kimmel, it is remarkable footage nonetheless.

A Wedding That Will Move You: Rowden & Leizel
Rowden Go was a normal 29 year old excited to marry the woman of his dreams. And then he was diagnosed with stage IV liver cancer. The prognosis for the aggressive cancer wasn’t optimistic…but before he passed, he made sure to keep his promise to his fianceé. With a lot of help from family and friends, including the couples’ 2-year-old daughter, his hospital room transformed into a wedding chapel.

I was lost and afraid.

What Is a Total Lunar Eclipse?
During a total lunar eclipse, Earth passes exactly between the full moon and the sun. As the celestial bodies move, the full moon enters Earth’s shadow until it is completely covered.
You may wonder, since the moon is constantly orbiting around the Earth, why there isn’t a lunar eclipse every month.
“It turns out the orbit of the moon is tilted relative to the orbit of the Earth around the sun so it doesn’t happen regularly,” says Andrew Fraknoi, Astronomy Department Chair at Foothill College. “Only when the two orbits cross—the orbit of the moon around the Earth and the orbit of the Earth around the sun—can you have an eclipse.”

- When to watch: The eclipse starts at 10:58 p.m. PST. At 12:07 a.m. the total eclipse phase begins. Earth will block the sun completely until 1:25 a.m., and then the moon travels through the semi-shadow until 2:33 a.m.
- Where to watch: Just go outside. You can see the eclipse from wherever you can usually see the moon.
